Bardu River
The Bardu River, which runs just 200 m below the farm, flows from Altevannet, a lake in the Inner Troms. The river runs through the entire municipality and down the Bardufossen waterfall before it flows into the Målselv River.

Fly-fishing
The Bardu River has good stocks of trout and char, and the river is highly regarded for fly-fishing. Trout weighing more than 2 kg and char weighing around 1 kg are not uncommon. River conditions mean that any catch is in perfect condition. Click here to view more photos from the river. For more information on fly-fishing in the Bardu River, please visit www.barduelva.net.

Sterilisation of fishing tackle
To prevent transmission of the parasite Gyrodactylus salaris, everyone who fishes in the Bardu River is required to sterilise their fishing tackle before they commence fishing. We will guide you to the nearest station.

Ice fishing
The Bardu River also offers good fishing experiences over the winter months. Ice fishing in the river is exciting and popular. We can also arrange ice fishing trips to picturesque mountain char.
